Take Me Away!

So many of us have yelled out those famous words… “Take me away!”  Every now and then we need to break away to rest, relax, and rejuvenate.  I can already hear you saying, ‘Where am I going to find the time? I have kids! I don’t have the money! I have work! Too many people are depending on me to do…!” Let me ask you a question. What do you think will happen if you keep overworking without a break? What do you think will eventually happen if you take care of everyone else but you? Your body will eventually break down from the stress. That’s what will happen. You’ll become physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained. Everybody you helped will have what they need but you. You’ll have plenty of money from working but will be too tired to enjoy the fruit of your labor.

It doesn’t always cost a lot of money or take a lot of time to break away. You can spend the day at a spa. There’s nothing like a good massage or facial to help you relax. You can even break away while you’re at home. Draw a nice, steamy hot bubble bath and just soak for a while. Put on some soothing music (Be sure to keep any electronics away from the tub :-) . We want you to rejuvenate not fry!). If you don’t want music, put on something that  is positive and that will refresh and edify your spirit. I often like listening to a biblical cd or Zig Ziglar.  Heres another idea. Take a tea break  with a good book, read and meditate on the scriptures (works well for me, especially when I’m hanging out by the water), or plan an evening exhaling with your favorite sister friends.

There’s a lot of things you can do to relax and unwind. It is so important to take care of  you. You must keep yourself as a top priority on your list in order to prevent meltdown, fatigue, and illness. Stress is a killer. We want to live long  and live well.  In order to do that we’ve got to start taking better care of ourselves. I was speaking with  the phenomenal Wellness Coach/Keynote Speaker, Delores Burgess (http://deloresburgess.com)  the other day and she reminded me that we do not have to be a negative statistic when it comes to cancer, heart attacks… However, it is imperative that we take care of our bodies and spirits. Each day we need to celebrate the life that God has given us by saturating ourselves in the word of God! In addition, each day, we need to eat well (What did you have to eat today?),  exercise well, sleep well, and take out time  to rejuvenate. Are you ready to shift your priorities so that you can be on the list?  I know I am. Let’s take a break. Rejuvenate. Relax. Refresh our minds, bodies and spirits.  Let’s commit to walking in wellness and encourage one another to do the same! We are worth it!
