The question “who are you?” seems to be such a simple question. Who am I? I am Wendy M. Reynolds. Yes, I am- but does that really define who I am? No. It identifies my title- my name given to me by my parents. I am the daughter of… This identifies my relationship to my parents. I am a writer but does that really tell you who I am or does it just identify what I do? Underneath the titles, underneath the presentations, who am I really? What makes me me? What are my passions? What type of character do I have? What are my likes and dislikes? What hurts have I encountered? What makes me laugh? What am I good at? What are my dreams!!! All of these things help make up who I am. I am more than what you perceive me to be. I am more than what I have presented myself to be and surely I am more than what my circumstances make me appear to be.
As we journey through life, we acquire so many roles. We want to be careful that in the midst of all the roles we play, we don’t lose who we really are. In addition, we experience many circumstances that try to define us. We are not our circumstances. I had the pleasure to watch a DVD entitled “Hiding Behind The Lipstick” presented by Myesha Chaney. I found it to be powerful. She addressed the issue of women hiding behind masks- not allowing the real us to show up. If you have an opportunity to see the DVD, or experiene it live, do so. Check here http://hidingbehindthelipstick.com or the link on my sidebar for the commercial. After you view the commercial, you’ll want to get the DVD. What I saw confirmed some things that were on my heart. It confirmed that it is time for healing. It is time to release the past. It is time to stop putting on false
presentations. It is time to uncover the real person that lay hidden behind or underneath the fake smiles, behind our busyness, the pain, the mediocrity, the people pleasing, the shame… so that the real you can be revealed. It’s time to stop hiding underneath whatever keeps you from walking in freedom. Break free of all the chains that keep you tangled up and bound (fear, pride, addictions,…). It’s time for the real you to take the stage and be free- be at liberty to dance! Are you ready? Are you ready to give it all that you have? Are you ready to put your life in the hands of God. He know how to reveal you in the way that you should be revealed. After all, He is the one that created you!
